Day Five of Five

Day Five of Five

I’m a few days late for day five of my #FiveDayQuest . I had a hard time thinking about what to do for day 5. I was going to take a picture of one of the MRI scanners at work because I talk about MRI a lot. Then I thought, that it might be boring. Then I thought about when I posted a picture of my brain. So I decided to post some images from my CT. However, I did not have time until today, to mess around with the 3D rendering. I had appendicitis a few years ago and this is the CT that they used to diagnose it. For those that are familiar with CT, you are probably wondering why the large intestine is showing up when the rest of the soft tissue organs are not. It’s due to the contrast agent they gave me, probably barium sulfate but I don’t remember. If you missed it, here’s my post about CT.

For the #FiveDayQuest  you post a picture per day about something in your life or about you. It can be random. It doesn’t have to have deep meaning. There aren’t any real rules to the quest, as far as I know. You mention who tagged you, the amazing Yoon-Mi Kim , and tag a new person to join the quest. Tagging Knut Torgersen to join.

  1. I rather like the images Chad, not only because they happen to feature a great deal of blue but also because I find medical images truly fascinating!

Every time I’ve had a procedure performed, I’ve always ask for the images but they alway refuse 😖. Gah, barium.

We should have a post your scar day!

  2. Thanks Nikki C. I didn’t think about the green glow colormap. I didn’t feel like using the default “hot” colormap, which is yellow-orange-red.  That sucks when they refuse to give you your images. I’m surprised there isn’t a law against that. Maybe bring Angry Brown with you next time.

  3. Too cool 🙂 I would love to see the MRI machine too…. okay I like all machines. But I do remember thinking how cool it is to be able to isolate some part of the body and image it. #Chadsinnerspace  🙂

  4. You’re like a bloody Rorschach test! I see a huge head in your gut! Exorcism stat!

(You do have a super cool job, boo.)

  5. Hehehe Knut Torgersen some versions do… I was paying attention to Chad Haney’s posts… so I know he posted about using PET in one CT machine, which is based on Positrons 😛

  6. Filinto Rodrigues, not really. The closest thing is being able to detect genetically modified viruses in cancer therapy. I can add a link later.
