Day Five of Five
I’m a few days late for day five of my #FiveDayQuest . I had a hard time thinking about what to do for day 5. I was going to take a picture of one of the MRI scanners at work because I talk about MRI a lot. Then I thought, that it might be boring. Then I thought about when I posted a picture of my brain. So I decided to post some images from my CT. However, I did not have time until today, to mess around with the 3D rendering. I had appendicitis a few years ago and this is the CT that they used to diagnose it. For those that are familiar with CT, you are probably wondering why the large intestine is showing up when the rest of the soft tissue organs are not. It’s due to the contrast agent they gave me, probably barium sulfate but I don’t remember. If you missed it, here’s my post about CT.
Medical Imaging 101 pt 2: CT
For the #FiveDayQuest you post a picture per day about something in your life or about you. It can be random. It doesn’t have to have deep meaning. There aren’t any real rules to the quest, as far as I know. You mention who tagged you, the amazing Yoon-Mi Kim , and tag a new person to join the quest. Tagging Knut Torgersen to join.

This is simply amazing. I cannot tell you just how much I like all of this!
Thanks Dirk Reul. I had fun playing with myself. 😉
Susana M. I guess today is a good day to post CT images.
I rather like the images Chad, not only because they happen to feature a great deal of blue but also because I find medical images truly fascinating!
Every time I’ve had a procedure performed, I’ve always ask for the images but they alway refuse 😖. Gah, barium.
We should have a post your scar day!
Thanks Nikki C. I didn’t think about the green glow colormap. I didn’t feel like using the default “hot” colormap, which is yellow-orange-red. That sucks when they refuse to give you your images. I’m surprised there isn’t a law against that. Maybe bring Angry Brown with you next time.
I suspect it is NHS policy.
I do however have the angiogram footage of my Dad’s heart.
Guess it is!!
These are great, Chad Haney! Perfect for the 5 day finale 😉
Thanks Susana M.
These are just great.Chad, you’re real pretty on the inside ^_^
Awww thanks Gita Jaisinghani. You and LP are quite awesome yourselves.
What Dirk and all the others said. AMAZING, Chad Haney
😀
Too cool 🙂 I would love to see the MRI machine too…. okay I like all machines. But I do remember thinking how cool it is to be able to isolate some part of the body and image it. #Chadsinnerspace 🙂
Ooh luverly hashtag, Lacerant Plainer!!
You’re like a bloody Rorschach test! I see a huge head in your gut! Exorcism stat!
(You do have a super cool job, boo.)
I don’t know what to say Brigitte W.
I’m calling Ripley.
Brigitte W. did anyone answer?
No, she was getting a haircut 😉
Very nice images Chad Haney A trained eye can get so much information from these images, your job must be very interesting!
Thanks Siromi Samarasinghe Some days my job is interesting other days it’s too much administrative work.
Wow, this is awesome Chad. What a way to show us up on our fivedays!
Yoon-Mi Kim, it’s just a look inside my life, like everyone else’s #FiveDayQuest
Glad it wasn’t x-rated!
Well, at least it is X-rayed… (drumroll) – as CT as far as I know use x-rays to create the images.
Hehehe Knut Torgersen some versions do… I was paying attention to Chad Haney’s posts… so I know he posted about using PET in one CT machine, which is based on Positrons 😛
Yep, true, but pun-wise not useful. 😉
I figured that’s where Yoon-Mi Kim was going. Trying to be punny.
We’re all
funnypunny 😉Chad Haney Yes! It is where I was going – I didn’t really expect it to be x-rated! O.O
😉
I was careful not to be too revealing.
Knut Torgersen are you going to take on the #FiveDayQuest ?
Hey….can doctors have images(videos) of virus running in bodies….
Filinto Rodrigues, not really. The closest thing is being able to detect genetically modified viruses in cancer therapy. I can add a link later.
Hi Chad…..could you explain how are “colour markers” on virus made?
