Thanks Andrew Clifton-Brown
Michael Habib can tell you about flying dinosaurs.
Chad Haney “tomography” yup – that’s the word I was looking for 😛
very interesting thing
What I learned from looking this up is that the python has an air hole at the bottom of its mouth so it can continue to breathe while swallowing prey. Grisly details of jaw dislocation here: http://www.rcreptiles.com/blog/index.php/2006/11/11/how_are_ball_pythons_able_to_swallow_suc
Thanks Rajini Rao I remember that from NatGeo. I loved watching nature shows when I was a young lad.
You’re still a young lad, Chad Haney 😉
I love this collection of images. The rendering is beautiful, and definitely artistic in addition to being scientifically detailed.
Thanks Rajini Rao I was just telling Luis Roca that I’m not very artistic. However there is some art in getting the opacity and coloring just right.
When is the next guessing game, Chad Haney ?
Rajini Rao it seems like people are more interested in the guessing game vs. tell me what science you see. I’ll think of something today.

It’s very entertaining watching a snake separate its mandibles.
We used to care for a cali king cross – their species grabs the prey, and then drag it into their mouth by using a … walking pattern, one mandible at a time, left and right, left and right, until the dinner is down the throat and gone.
She used to stretch her jaw and flex it back into place once she had done – that always used to make me smile, as her face went all wonky and she lolled her tongue out to its entire length…
Not sure if this is up your alley Candace M Hansen
